Went to the UGA Trial Garden Open House yesterday. Terra Nova's Rudbeckia 'Henry Eilers' is doing well in my garden too. It's a fun flower form. The Coleus 'Mint Mocha' was a showoff.
My writing career started when one of my landscape design clients marched into the local newspaper office with my design business newsletter, announcing “You need a garden column and you need her to write it!” After writing over 600 newspaper garden columns for Morris News Service, the Athens (Georgia) Banner-Herald and Northwest Arkansas Morning News (many under my maiden name of Connie Fugedy), I am now a regular contributor to Georgia Gardening (State-by-State Gardening), Lee and Southern Distinction magazines.
In addition to garden writing, I enjoy a full-time job in charge of public relations and special events for The State Botanical Garden of Georgia. I am active in Green Acres Garden Club and the Athens Area Master Gardener Association and a member of the American Conifer Society and Garden Writers Association.
I received a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Arkansas and am licensed in Georgia. After living in Little Rock, Northwest Arkansas and New Orleans, I now garden in Zone 7b Athens, Georgia with an aging beagle, two cats, and a few browsing deer.
